The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge brings together teams from all across the world, to compete in various solar racing challenges. For over 30 years, teams from across the world have pushed the boundaries of engineering and design, to build a vehicle capable of handing the harshest terrain Australia can produce.
AMERICAN SOLAR CHALLENGE
& FORMULA SUN GRAND PRIX
The American Solar Challenge is a biannual endurance challenge through North America. Over the history of the event, the course has varied providing teams the opportunity to demonstrate their solar car’s ability to function under real world driving conditions. The winner of the American Solar Challenge is determined by the total elapsed time taken to complete the race.
The Formula Sun Grand Prix is an annual track competition held on grand prix or road style closed courses. On years where the American Solar Challenge is held, the Formula Sun Grand Prix acts as a qualifier event for the American Solar Challenge. Teams must successfully complete the Formula Sun Grand Prix before being allowed to begin the American Solar Challenge. The winner is determined by the number of laps completed over three days of racing.
